Higher Performance and New Functionality for Surveyors in New Generation Multibeam Echo Sounder

We have released the EM 304, the third generation of its de facto industry standard 30 kHz Multibeam Echo Sounder System, used for high resolution seabed mapping from depths of 10 metres to beyond the continental rises – deeper than 8000 metres.

New Norwegian Autonomous Shipping Test-Bed Opens

An official autonomous shipping test-bed was opened in Horten yesterday (6 December), on the coast of Norway. Established to support the growth in development of new solutions for autonomous maritime operations, the new area is open to both Norwegian and international organisations, and is designed to be a convenient, safe, non-congested space to trial new technology and vessels.

K-MATE Autonomy Controller Technology Put to Test for Shell Ocean Discovery XPRIZE

Supported by KONGSBERG experts and technology, the GEBCO-NF Alumni Team, one of 19 semi-finalist teams competing in the $7 Million Shell Ocean Discovery XPRIZE competition, has completed Technology Readiness Tests of its unique Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) / Autonomous Underwater Vessel (AUV) concept.

As the shipping industry digitalizes, vessels are becoming sophisticated hubs of connected systems and sensors that generate and exchange data both onboard and back to shore. This connectivity increases the need for cyber security and for ways of verifying the cyber safety of installed systems.

Improved profitability in third quarter

KONGSBERG has a reduction in revenues in the third quarter of 2017, but restructuring measures improve profitability. The order backlog is at end quarter lower than previous quarters, but order intake within defence is expected to improve in the fourth quarter.

SAAB Chooses KONGSBERG Naval Sonars for Mid-Life Upgrade of Göteborg-Class Corvettes

Kongsberg Maritime has been selected to deliver ST2400 VDS (Varial Depth Sonar) systems for Anti-Submarine Warfare applications to the Royal Swedish Navy as part of SAAB's upgrade program for the Göteborg-Class Corvettes fleet. The main purpose of the ST2400 VDS is to detect submarines, mines and Unmanned Underwater Vehicles in Littoral waters.

UiT K-Lander Recovered

Two K-Lander Systems owned by CAGE (UiT) were recovered from the Barents Sea offshore Svalbard in July and August. Both systems were deployed in October 2016 to collect crucial data to increase the understanding of natural seabed methane release in respect to the seasonal sea ice influence on this area.

KONGSBERG Wins EPCI Contract for Newbuild LNG Fuelled RoPax Ferry

Kongsberg Maritime has been awarded an Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation contract with Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft, a subsidiary of Siem Group. This is the second RoPax contract that Kongsberg Maritime has been awarded at FSG. The 'Full Picture' contract, valued at approximately €20 million.

K-Fleet Voyage, KONGSBERG’s digital application for monitoring ship fuel consumption and emissions has been verified by Ecoxy AS for use under the EU Emission Trading Scheme and the new EU Monitoring, Reporting and Verification for maritime transport regulation. Ecoxy AS is accredited by Norwegian Accreditation as a verifier according to ISO14065 for the ETS and EU-MRV.
