Reshaping Underwater Operations – Live Footage of Groundbreaking Robotic Subsea 'Snake' Released

With the support of Kongsberg Maritime as a development partner, the unique new robot has torn up the marine robotics rulebook to create a futuristic, snake-like vehicle designed to live permanently underwater and carry out underwater intervention tasks that would normally require the mobilisation of expensive surface vehicles for divers or to launch and retrieve ROVs or AUVs.

An eventful year for KONGSBERG

KONGSBERG's revenues in Q4 2016 are MNOK 3,952 and the EBITDA is MNOK 334. The Group's total revenues for 2016 are MNOK 15,845, with an EBITDA of MNOK 1,217. In 2016, important strategic moves were made, including the acquisition of 49.9 per cent of the Finnish defense supplier Patria and the establishment of Kongsberg Digital.

KONGSBERG develops Monitoring, Reporting and Verification application to meet new European environmental regulations

Kongsberg Maritime has developed a new Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) application for its K-Fleet suite of Marine Fleet Management Software. K-Fleet MRV has been assessed as meeting the requirements of new EU-regulation 2015/757, which is a result of the EU calling for a global approach to reducing greenhouse gas emissions from international shipping.

DSME and Kongsberg Maritime Ink New Joint Development Agreement

Kongsberg, Norway, 9th December 2016 – DSME and Kongsberg Maritime have signed a Joint Development Agreement (JDA) for a new LNG FSRU regasification control system. As part of the delivery scope for a vessel currently under construction at the Okpo shipyard in South Korea, DSME will develop a High Fidelity Dynamic Simulator for the regasification plant.

New DP Maintenance Refresher Course Meets Latest IMCA Guidelines

Kongsberg Maritime has launched a new Dynamic Positioning (DP) Maintenance Refresher Course for personnel involved in the maintenance of a vessel's DP System. The new two-day course will be available at KONGSBERG training centres globally and has been developed to provide the technical and refresher training as recommended in the latest International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) guidelines (M117 Rev.2) in addition to compliance with IMO-STCW Part B section B-V/f.

University Students and Researchers Test Own Control Algorithms on Industrial DP System Platform

Students and researchers from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) were given the opportunity to test their own Dynamic Positioning (DP) algorithms in a full-scale setting last week. The trials took place in the Trondheimsfjord aboard the 'R/V Gunnerus', the NTNU-owned research and education vessel to which KONGSBERG donated a state-of-the-art K-Pos DP system in 2015.

A challenging quarter for KONGSBERG

KONGSBERG has revenues of MNOK 3,428 and an EBITDA of minus MNOK 40 in Q3, compared to MNOK 4,009 and MNOK 419 in the same quarter in 2015. The weak result is mainly due to significant write-downs and restructuring costs of MNOK 399 in Kongsberg Maritime, together with further decline in the oil and offshore-related activities.
